1. Is your painter licenced and insured?

Some painters may say that they are licenced and insured, but actually are not and are putting you at risk. Unless you see proof how do you know. Pohlmann Bros are licenced with QBCC and are fully insured for Public Liability and accidental damage and details of this are publicly available on our website.

2. Does your Painter use qualified tradespeople?

Some painters use backpackers and unskilled labourers from gumtree and the like, and the quality of work suffers accordingly. Pohlmann Bros only use qualified and experienced painters.

3. Did your painter measure up your job properly or just made a guesstimate?

Many painters don’t use proper measuring devices and just use their judgement to guess on the areas to be painted. They will then come back with additional costs later on. Pohlmann Bros use laser measurers to accurately arrive at the square and lineal meterage of the job. Therefore your quote is accurate and won’t have extras added on as nasty surprises later on.

4. How detailed is your quote?

Many painters will just give you an amount and a vague description of the works to be completed eg. internal painting. They will then claim additional costs later on and say that wasn’t included in the quote, when you thought everything was included.

Pohlmann Bros provide a detailed description of the works to be completed eg. prepare and repaint all internal ceilings 180 sqm, and walls 350 sqm, all doors & trims x 7, all frames and skirtings (excludes garage and inside cupboards). This way both parties are clear as to the agreed scope of works and there are no hidden surprises.

5. Does your painter provide any testimonials and pictures of previously completed work?

Many painters will tell you that they have satisfied customers but don’t actually provide proof of this. Pohlmann Bros has both testimonials and pictures of previously completed work on our website to help you validate that it is a quality painter.

6. Does your painting quote include proper surface preparation?

Many painters will cut corners by doing a minimal amount of surface preparation ie. light sanding only. This will result in the new painted surfaces breaking down prematurely eg. peeling and cracking, and you will need to repaint within 2-3 years or sooner. Pohlmann Bros include as part of the quote proper surface preparation including washing down, demoulding, degreasing, sanding, stripping, gap and hole filling. This ensures that your repainted surfaces will last for 10+ years before needing to be repainted.

7. How long has your painter been in business?

Some painters don’t even have an ABN and are here today and gone tomorrow…..you’ve seen the stories of unscrupulous tradesmen on ACA that take your deposit and disappear. Pohlmann Bros have been in business since 2000 and our ABN is 68 586 554 427 and this can be verified through the ABN lookup website. We value our customers and want to complete all works to your satisfaction so you recommend us to others.

8. Will your painter rectify anything not completed to your satisfaction?

Many painters will not return to your job to do touch up’s or rectify anything once you have made the final payment. Pohlmann Bros honour their obligations under QBCC rules (6 month defect liability period) and will always come back to fix anything we didn’t get right the first time, provided it was within the original scope of works.

9. Does your painter provide quality work and a warranty on works completed?

Many painters do not provide any warranty on works completed, and will only do 1 coat of paint. Pohlmann Bros always paint 2 or more coats of paint and provide a standard 5 year workmanship warranty, provided you engage us to maintain the painted external surfaces through washdown annually. Naturally this excludes fair wear and tear.

10. Does your painter use quality paints?

Many painters use the cheapest paints they can find, and this will lead to premature breakdown eg. peeling and cracking, as well as dulling over time. Pohlmann Bros only use quality known brand paints like Dulux and Taubmans, therefore these will last the distance.
